Lights, Camera, Action or a film “Faces of Precariat”. Part 1.

35612 157419560971930 4716081 nI have already had the idea to make a film on the theme of the project when I was back in Russia. As I have experience in filmmaking, I decided that my knowledge should be directed in the right way. In Russia I worked as a journalist for one year, I took biographical interviews with prominent people of the city of Kazan, and our documentary films of different genres were then based on the interviews. The Second World war, the war in Afghanistan, jazz, professors of Kazan Federal University are the main topics on which I worked before coming to Slovenia. This work has allowed me to develop my communication skills, to learn more about the technical side of the filmmaking process and of course to meet amazing people. Working as a journalist is fantastic, but it`s not as easy as it seems at first sight. Sometimes one interview lasted for 5 hours without a break, and after it, I waited for a new guest. And it’s not only about the amount of time, but rather about the careful attitude to the story of these people, in fact they shared with me parts of their lives, their thoughts. But it’s time to move on to the idea of my new film.

Set popcorn aside, please

It is important to understand that the motion pictures or movies are completely different from documentary films. Besides, the techniques used are different. The documentary is designed to help you to detect one of the social problems, ripened in society, and show it in real time and space; in fact this is real life on the screen, of course, through the prism of its producer. Typically, the documentary films don`t tolerate careless attitude, and require a thoughtful approach to watching.

The film “Faces of Precariat”

So, we crept up to the most important – to the film. The film is a great opportunity to attract public attention to the issue, in our case, to the problem of Precariat and unemployment. Originally I thought to make a film about Slovenes, but not long ago I realized that if we get representatives of other countries to take part in this film, we can show how this problem is widespread and it has a supranational character. Certainly, each country has its own characteristics, challenges and good practices, but through the exchange of experience we can expand our knowledge and try to overcome the difficulties together.

Gibanje has a project “Obrazi prekarnega dela”, which shows personal stories of precarious workers. This idea lies at the basis of the film, it`s an opportunity to talk about the problems of unemployment and Precariat through personal stories, to reflected the social, economic and political problems on the micro level.

If you have a desire to participate in the creation of the film and tell your story, write to me. In the following articles you will get to know more about the details of the filmmaking process.
