The new season at Gibanje has started because many members have come back to Ljubljana and they are full of new ideas and enthusiasm. But in any case we have accomplished a very important project during the last month of summer, beginning of September.
We finished our big social action, where we have collected school supplies for pupils and students, then sent it to the regions of Slovenia that have been the most severely affected by the crisis. We can say that we are really proud of this accomplishment because we actually managed to collect a lot of necessary things for school in many Slovenian cities. We hope it will help some young pupils. And we would like to thank all the people who donated school supplies and supported our action.
Last week there was a festival of Slovenian NGOs – LUPA, where Gibanje was presented by a few our members. It was an amazing experience, because we had an opportunity to present our own organization to other NGOs and guests of this festival and found new partners who share the same values and interests.
Moreover, last week we had a big meeting where we discussed our future plans and projects. For instance, we talked a lot about our new project – Project X, which is intended fighting contemporary slavery in a way that a lot of people and especially young population who have just graduated and fresh on a labor market, have to agree for a job with bad conditions and employers are aware about this situation and use it actively for there own benefit. We have started this project by taking pictures of some famous Slovenians or ordinary people with more or less provocative slogan in their hands. For example, “Young means unemployed”, “16 years of education, for what? For unemployment office?”
Additionally, we applied for 2 new Youth in action projects: EVS and job shadowing. So we hope next year will have a prosperous cooperation with our new partners.
